Fall forward. Remember that.
Thomas Edison conducted 1,000 failed experiments. The 1,001st experiment was the lightbulb.
Fall forward. Every failed experiment is one step closer to success. You have to take risks. You have to get out of your comfort zone. You have to push yourself to become healthier, fitter or stronger (whatever your goal may be).
You will fail many times trying to do this. Just think of how many times you’ve said you will start a fitness regime, or when you will begin eating healthier food.
You will suck at some point too, there is no doubt about it. I remember the first time I walked into the gym, I was nervous and had no idea where to start. The weights area was particularly intimidating. Everyone looked like they knew what they were doing. Without knowing it, I failed all the time back then. I tried many things that looking back, would never work to get fitter. Without knowing it, I was falling forward all the time.
Believe it or not, these experiences have helped to shape how we train every individual who enters SPC.
That self doubt people experience entering a gym is the exact reason why so many of us never achieve our health and fitness goals. No one wants to fail. No one wants to feel embarrassed. No one wants to look out of place.
The point is, everybody has the ability to succeed, but do they have the guts to fail? Do they truly know that getting into the shape of their life requires constant failure along the way. Finding what types of training you enjoy is a tough process and requires much time. Finding out how far you can (safely and effectively) push your body is a tough process and requires much effort. Working around old injuries is a tough process and requires patience. Not filling your body with rubbish food is a tough process and requires being mentally strong. You will fail, accept it. The key is to use these failures to shape your success and provide motivation to succeed.
To get something you have never had, you will have to do something you never did.
At SPC, we learn from failure to shape the training of all our clients. Failed before? No problem. Will you make mistakes along the way? Most definitely. Will that stop you from reaching your goals? Absolutely not. Our personal and group training clients benefit from years of us being in the trenches, learning our craft and finding what makes each individual tick. We have walked the walk – are you ready to join us?
