We have spent this evening seeking clarification on the new lockdown measures.
CIMPSA (The Chartered Institute For The Management of Sport and Physical Activity) has released the following statement:
“The Govt has just published some detailed guidance for England.
1:1 personal training is still allowed in a public outdoor space.
We will find out whether there are any exemptions to this e.g. for people with disabilities.”
The government guidelines have also confirmed that you can meet one other person from outside your household for exercise once per day in an outdoor public place within your local area: https://www.gov.uk/guidance/
I have also seeked advice from Sussex Police, about the government’s guidelines.
SPC is not considered an outside sports venue as it is located on college grounds, which we deem a public place as everyone can enquire about goods and services they have, on payment or otherwise. The outdoor area at SPC is by definition an outdoor public place. We deem this is no different from meeting someone at a park to exercise with.
Based on this advice, we will continue to use the SPC outdoor area to run one-to-one personal training sessions only.
SPC is still open!
Our indoor SPC facility is currently closed due to the Tier 4 restrictions implemented in Sussex.
However, SPC are committed to the continued health and wellbeing of our members and are currently offering personal training services using our outdoor facility only in line with recommended government guidelines regarding Covid-19.
All group training sessions will be held online on January 4th 2021 until we are able to resume back at the SPC facility.
